Fliptown DAO & Governance
Decentralized Decisions for a Regenerative Future
Empowering our community through transparent and equitable governance.
Our Ubuntu DAO Structure
Community-owned and collectively managed
What is the Fliptown DAO?
The Fliptown Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) is the heartbeat of our movement. It's a community-owned and community-governed entity built on principles of transparency, inclusivity, and collective decision-making, deeply rooted in the spirit of Ubuntu – "I am because we are."
Unlike traditional hierarchical structures, our DAO empowers every member to have a voice in shaping the direction of Fliptown, from proposing new projects to allocating resources and defining our shared values. It's a living, evolving system that reflects the wisdom and aspirations of our diverse community.

Membership and Participation
Becoming a member of the Fliptown DAO means joining a collective committed to positive change. Membership is open to individuals and families who resonate with our mission and values. While specific membership tiers or tokenomics may evolve, the core principle remains: participation is valued and encouraged.
Members can participate in various ways:
Submitting proposals for new initiatives or changes.
Discussing and providing feedback on active proposals.
Voting on proposals that shape the future of Fliptown.
Contributing skills and time to approved projects.
Engaging in community discussions and working groups.

How Governance Works
The journey of a proposal
The Proposal Process
Any active member of the Fliptown DAO can submit a proposal. This could be for a new project, a change in governance, allocation of resources, or any initiative that aligns with our mission. Proposals should be clearly articulated, outlining the purpose, expected outcomes, required resources, and alignment with Fliptown's values.
Proposals are typically submitted through a designated platform (which will be detailed in our full documentation) where they can be viewed and discussed by the community.

Discussion and Voting
Once a proposal is submitted, a period of community discussion begins. This is a vital phase where members can ask questions, offer feedback, suggest modifications, and debate the merits of the proposal. This collaborative process helps refine ideas and ensures that decisions are well-considered.
Following the discussion period, the proposal moves to a voting phase. Our voting mechanism is designed to be equitable and secure, reflecting the collective will of the members. The specifics of the voting system (e.g., weight of votes, required quorum) are outlined in our detailed governance documentation.
Implementation and Accountability
If a proposal receives the required support through the voting process, it is then moved towards implementation. The DAO structure allows for transparent allocation of resources and assignment of responsibilities for carrying out the approved initiatives.
Accountability is baked into the system. The progress and impact of approved projects are visible to the community, and members can hold those responsible accountable through defined DAO processes. This ensures that our collective resources and efforts are utilized effectively towards achieving our shared goals.

Active Participation is Key
While the DAO model distributes power, certain roles or working groups may emerge to facilitate specific functions and ensure the smooth operation of the organization. These are typically community-driven and focused on areas like:
Technical Stewards: Maintaining and improving the DAO's underlying technology.
Proposal Reviewers: Ensuring proposals are clear, complete, and adhere to guidelines before voting.
Treasury Guardians: Overseeing the DAO's funds and their allocation as approved by governance.
Community Facilitators: Moderating discussions and fostering healthy community engagement.
These roles are designed to serve the community and are accountable to the DAO members. Opportunities to step into or contribute to these roles will be communicated through the DAO's communication channels.
